This is a little handbag Barbara at our craft club showed me how to make using scarf yarn. I then showed our Knit and Natter club yesterday how to make it and a couple of the ladies had finished them in just over two hours and were very pleased with themselves.

The pattern is for King Cole Crystal Scarf Yarn which is a large web scarf yarn.

Using the whole of the yarn and a large crochet hook ( 7mm or more), crochet 25 chains,

then slip the loop onto large knitting needles ( at least 7 – 8mm is easiest) and cast on another 15 stitches so that you will have 16 stitches all together.

Garter Stitch 6 rows (knit every row)

Then working into the raw edge of the yarn (not the row with the wide edge)  about 1 or two rows of the holes in, not right on  the edge,  , stocking stitch 23 rows ( knit a row pearl a row). Depending on the brand of the yarn used you maybe able to do a few extra rows to knit a larger bag.

Then using the whole of the yarn again garter stitch 6 rows.

Cast of 15 stitches and then slip the last stitch back onto crochet hook and make 25 chains again then break yarn and fasten off.

Sew together with a matching colour of dk yarn or thread by sewing up sides and sewing each end of the handles to the bag.
